He was predeceased by: his father J. W. Nevels, Sr.; and his siblings, J. W. Nevels, Jr., Jimmie Dale Nevels, Jerry Nevels, Debra Wyatt and Lucinda Emrick.
He is survived by: his mother Bobbie Ship Nevels; his stepfather Leon Nevels; and his siblings, Larry Nevels, Richard "Dicky" Nevels, Elvin Nevels, Barbara Acuff (Jimmy), Peggy Cousins (Tommy), Angela Nevels and Cathy Hughes. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
