He was predeceased by: his parents, Elve Hurtt and Geneva Joyner Hurtt; his daughter Rita Hurtt; and his siblings, Edward, Pernel, Vernon Hurtt, Zola, Irene and Joyce.

He is survived by: his wife Iva Bland Hurtt; his son-in-law Donnie Clearman; and his sisters, Doris Wilson (Charles) and Mary Bryant. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
