He was predeceased by: his parents, Noal Akins and Opal Akins; his wife Joyce Graham; and his siblings, Mary Wilkerson, Nancy Akins and Benny Akins.
He is survived by: his daughter Nicole Boyd (Daniel) of Oxford; his grandchildren, Isabelle Boyd and Speight Boyd of Oxford; and his siblings, Lillian Smith of Memphis, Judy Holland (Billy Joe) of Mooreville, Penny Daniels of Memphis, Mike Akins (Tammy) of Ripley, Randy Akins (Dot) of Ripley and Terry Akins (Carol) of Ripley.
In lieu of flowers, Noal requested that memorials dedicated to assisting with preschool special needs students be sent to: The University of Mississippi Foundation, Early Learning and Evaluation Center, 406 University Avenue, Oxford, MS 38655.
