She was predeceased by: her son Jimmy Edwards; her husband Thomas Dean Edwards; and her siblings, Bo, Buddy Sanford and Sue Ferguson.

She is survived by: her children, Shawn Edwards (Kathy), Keith Edwards (Meredith), Rickey Rutz and Hope Gardner (Joey); her grandchildren, Meghan Edwards, Aubrey Edwards, Kristina Kyle (Josh), Cody Edwards, Hailey Edwards, Makon Edwards, Marleigh Edwards, Tyler Gardner and Ben Gardner; her great grandchildren, Thomas Kyle and Grace Kyle; and her siblings, Sherry Sherman (Mike) and Dane Sanford (Beth).

“I met Melba when she and Thomas Dean lived on Shiloh Road when Ben had started a T-Ball and Little League ball team in Toccopola. We went out to eat together, play Mexican train dominos(Melba would always have a delicious pie she made). Melba was a wonderful friend, a great cook and good conversationalist (I teased her that she could talk 90 miles an hour)ha.. We enjoyed Homemakers, Bunco and Book Exchange together. Melba was a caring person and loved to help others, She will be greatly missed”
