He was predeceased by: his parents, Eula Messer and Hulet Sessum Gafford; and his siblings, Mavour Ruth Papasan and Hulet Gafford. He is survived by: his wife Sandy Senter Gafford of Oxford, MS; his children, Camille Mitchell (Kevin) of Oxford, MS, Missy G. Garrett (Cam) of Oxford, MS and Gerald Alexander "Gerry" Gafford, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; his sister June Jumper of Pinedale, MS; and his grandchildren, Gerald Alexander "Alex" Gafford III (Jessie), Lizzie Gafford, Meredith Gafford, Gafford White (Paige), Mary McCall McArthur (Will), Lily Mitchell and Julia Mitchell. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
