With heavy hearts, we announce the death of David Ray Murphey of Newton, Mississippi, born in Union, Mississippi, who passed away on June 23, 2021 at the age of 71. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Ray and Bonnie Murphey; his grandparents, T. Victor, Pearl L. Murphey, Charles Wesley and Bessie Cook; and his nephew Michael Patrick.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Murphey; his children, Daphne Maule, Delores Murphey, Denise Nicholas, Jason James (Kim), Sherri McCrary (Harold), Kim Tuggle and Chris James (Ashley); his sisters, Glenda Shepard and Bonnie Evans (John); his nephew Keith Shepard (Jennifer); and his niece Angie Blount (Dean). He is also survived by 22 Grandchildren, 10 Great-Grandchildren.
