It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruth Prather Carmon Buttrey (New Albany, Mississippi), born in Union, Mississippi, who passed away on June 8, 2022, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Lacy Prather and Jewell Morgan Prather; her former husband George Leon Carmon; her husband Alvin L. Buttrey; her son William Leon "Billy" Carmon; her stepmother Ozella Prather; and her brothers, James Wesley Prather, Joel Jeffers Prather and Porter Eugene Prather.
She is survived by: her son Raymond L. Carmon; her siblings, Jewell Lavelle Prather Hancock and Arnold Wayne Prather (Marie); her grandchildren, Tracey Carmon, Timothy Ray "Ty" Carmon and Kayla Carmon Young (Russell); her great grandchildren, Christopher Young, Ellie Young, Lincoln Young, Kylen Hawkins and Kashton Davis; and her close friends, Kirk, Melissa Kennedy, John and Joyce Pitts.
