He was predeceased by: his wife Dell Lauderdale Thomason. He is survived by: his children, Laura Thomason Blalock (Angelo Tinsley) of Lakeland, FL, Amy Thomason Patrick (Cass) of Pontotoc, MS and John Erschel Thomason III (Nancy); his sisters, Marilyn Thomason Cooper (Jim) of Wilmington, NC and Eleanor Thomason Spradling (Bud) of Trenton, TN; his grandchildren, John E. Thomason IV, Claire Thomason Calhoun (Jacob), Paul Thomason (Courtney), Daniel Paolini, Frankie Blalock, Ray Patrick (Elana) and Sam Patrick (Taylor Kelly); and his great grandchildren, Nathan Thomason, Evelyn Thomason and Ray Patrick IV.
