He was predeceased by: his parents, James B. Sykes and Germaine Pickering. He is survived by: his wife Kathy B. Sykes; his son Rus Sykes (Allison); his grandsons, Matthew Sykes, Jackson Sykes and Samuel Sykes; his niece Amy Lee (Michael); and his nephews, Andy Barrett and John Barrett (Pamela).
