He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Charles E. Stroup and Lucretia F Stroup; his wife Norma Grace Finning Stroup; his children, Don (Cindy) of Quincy, MA, Robert Stroup of Long Beach and Elizabeth Stroup of Linden; his grandchildren, Derek Stroup, Sharon Lessard (Bubba) and Lincoln Lessard of Massachusetts; and his siblings, Charlotte I Shrepple, Mary K Kuhns of Williamsport, Thomas B Frantz, Curtis F Stroup, Phyllis H Frantz and Katherine J Stroup May.
From the WAHS Alumni Education Foundation he received the annual Distinguished Alumni in the professional category in 2016.
