He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed Tate and Dora Tate; and his siblings, Beatrice Rimmer, Margie Ashford, Thelma Mallett, Clara Love, Lawrence Tate and Charlie Tate.
He is survived by: his wife Irene Tate; his children, Shirley Roby (Johnny), Hazel Meadows, Linda Austin (Oga Lee), Carl Griffin (Linda), Sherman Tate (Sandra) and Rickey Tate; and his sister-in-law Annie Rayford Tate. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
