He was predeceased by: his parents, Merle Sr. Nelson and Carolyn Nelson; his son Greg Nelson; and his brother Kenny Nelson. He is survived by: his daughter Carolyn Sims (David) of Flora; his brothers, Richard Wayne Nelson of Devers, TX and Merle, Jr. Nelson (Kathy) of Florence; his grandchildren, Jacob (Andrea), Haley and Shelby Sims; and his great grandchildren, Walker, Brooks and Maggie Cate Sims.
