He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Jean Cox; his stepson Timothy Dozier; his parents, Jesse Cox and Seldon Cox; and his sister Jessie Mae Smith.
He is survived by: his significant other Denise Young; his children, Lynn Cox, Donna Britt, Chuck Dozier, Chris Cox and Sherry Dozier; and his siblings, John Paul Cox and Dottie Cox. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
