She was predeceased by: her parents, Casper Smith and Nora Golightly Smith; her husband James A. Burns; her granddaughter Molly Burns; and her siblings, Perry "Bubba" Smith, Casper Smith, Carolyn Elaine Cooper and Gloria Morgan.

She is survived by: her sons, Phillip Burns (Karla), Sanford Burns (Vonda), Robert Burns (Pam) and Joel Burns (Ruth); her sister Martha Leatherwood; and her grandchildren, Samantha Ellis (Ethan), Hunter Burns, Rachel Farrar (Blake), Kyle Burns, Samuel Burns (Haley), Emily Burns, Alicia Burns, Mark Burns, Ben Burns, Kaci Burns, Baylee Burns, Rachel Pulse and Jacee Pulse. She is also survived by four great grandchildren; and a host of other friends.
