He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanford Bogan Ray of Bunker Hill, MS. and Clara Lillian Ray Shibla; and his siblings, Laney Ray, Hubert Ray, Harris Ray, J. L. Ray and Jewel Dean McRaney.

He is survived by: his wife Georgia Irene Ham Ray; his son Jim Lee Ray, Jr. (Sharon) of Sumrall, MS; his grandchildren, Michelle Ginn (Jay) of Foxworth, MS, Angela Patterson (Jeremy) of Sumrall and Christopher Ray (James) of San Jose, CA; his great grandchildren, Dalton Daughtry, Parker Ginn, Lilly Claire Patterson, Rayleigh Patterson and Maddox Patterson; and his siblings, George Ray (Ann) of Columbia, William Ray (Dianne) of Columbia, Demples Boettcher of Galveston, TX and Nannie Jane Hollis of Columbia.
