He was predeceased by: his daughter Anita Hillenbrand. He is survived by: his wife Flora Hunsucker of Coldwater; his children, Natasha Hunsucker Rhoda (Michael) of Hernando and Dana Lyle (Bob) of Brandon; his son-in-law Joe Hillenbrand of Rossville, TN; his grandchildren, Gregory Stephens, Brianna Rhoda, Brooke Rhoda, Brinley Rhoda, Courtney Sanders, Erin Alford and Zach Hillenbrand; his great grandchildren, Lyle Sanders and Liam Alford; and the mother of his child Janie Hunsucker of Hernando.

“Dear Flora: So very sorry to hear about JD's passing back in November. He was a wonderful guy and I really enjoyed playing music with him when I was the drummer for "Eddie Cash and the Mad Caps." We were a really hot group in Memphis back in the late 1950s. Seeing us with our black and white caps and a vest with pink elephants was very avant garde back then.
