He was predeceased by: his parents, Arcola, Sr. Hughes and Allen Christopher McCool Hughes; his wife Betty Hooper Hughes; and his brother Kerry Van Hughes. He is survived by: his children, Nikki Shields (Todd) of Houlka, Todd Hughes (Lisa) of Coffeeville and Rusty Hughes (Terri) of Tupelo; his brothers, John Hughes (Peggy) and Bill Hughes (Barbara); his grandchildren, Jessica Richardson (Brandon), Matthew Hughes (Blair) and Cooper Hughes; and his great grandchildren, Anna Richardson, Eli Hughes and Ella Hughes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church – Coffeeville, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or LeBonheur Children's Hospital.
