He was predeceased by: his parents, William Gordon Johnson and Verna Gertrude Taylor Johnson; his former wife Nila Mac Varnado Johnson; and his siblings, Lettie Louise Knight, Lillie Mae Morris, Daisy Isabelle Dillard and Paul George Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Sonja Cranston Johnson; his children, Samuel Mark Johnson, Leslie Denise McCraney (Steve), Stanley Aaron Johnson (Lisa), Joshua Thomas Johnson and Melanie Lorraine Johnson; and his brothers, Jesse Johnson (Shirley) and Wesley Andrew Johnson. He is also survived by his 18 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren.
