He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Ricks and Louella Elizabeth Pamplin Hunter; his stepmother Vera Sedberry Ricks; his daughter Mary Helen Harris; his son-in-law Phillip Meredith; his grandson Jon Owens; and his siblings, John Ricks, Jimmy Ricks, Jake Ricks, Eugene Ricks and Louella.
He is survived by: his wife Nila Jo Hardin Ricks; his children, Carol McDougald (David), Freda Seago (Darren), Lisa Ricks, Earline "Runt" Tourdot (Pete), Brenda Knight (Melton), Linda Meredith, James Ricks (Brenda) and Benjy Jones (Dottie); and his siblings, J. M. Ricks (Judy), Fred Ricks and Christine Hobbs (Robert). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
