He was predeceased by: his parents, James Bradford Smithson and Ellie Mae Smithson; his wife Linda Carol Smithson (Dunn); his siblings, James Smithson, Ruth Byars and Janice (Jeffinie); and his son William Keith.
He is survived by: his children, Jeanine Ritchie (Chris) of Bruce and Stephen Smithson of Olive Branch; and his grandchildren, Casey Smithson (Angelin) of Bruce, MS, Keri Haire (Benji) of Bruce, MS, Ethan Ritchie of Olive Branch, MS, Jade Brown (Corey) of Georgia, Evan of Olive Branch, Vance of Olive Branch, Trevor Smithson of Olive Branch and Jenna Block (Chevy) of Olive Branch. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
