He was predeceased by: his parents, Josephine Spann and Simon Burton; his children, Jannette, Lewis Brown (Pop) and Willie James Crosby (Bo); his granddaughter Ashley Spann; and his son Sidney Spann, Jr. (Mary).
He is survived by: his cousins, Sidney and Sammy Lee Myers; his children, Johnny Hobson of Flowood, MS, Gloria Spann Leslie, Shirley Davis (Lee) of Brandon, MS, James Spann Chesterfield and Douglas Spann (Cynthia) of Brandon, MS; his sister Elizabeth Smith-Boyd (Twenty) of Richton Park, IL; his sister-in-law Shirley Simms of Round Rock, TN; and his daughter-in-law Bridgette Crosby of Victoria, TX. He is also survived by Twenty-six grandchildren; Forty-two great grandchildren; Seventeen great great grandchildren.
