He is survived by: his wife Velia Smith of Bogue Chitto; his father Claude Bennett Smith of Bogue Chitto; his stepmother Peggy of Bogue Chitto; his mother Doris Smith of Summit; his sons, Jonathan Rodriguez (Norma) of Hawaii, Buddy Carter (Denya) of St. Louis, MO and Derek Smith of Rio Rancho, NM; his sons-in-law, Malia Turney, David Turney of Missouri, Venesa McKinstry and Mike McKinstry of Rio Rancho, NM; his siblings, Stanley Smith (Ruby) of Southaven and Claudia Salcedo (Carlos) of Loma Linda, CA; and his sisters-in-law, Beatrice Rodriguez-Cruz of Hawaii, Norma Comeaux of Hawaii, Elena Curley of Hawaii and Cecilia Berggren of Hawaii. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In doing so, his gift of organ donation helped and saved the lives of 33 individuals.
