He was predeceased by: his wife Ruth Prine; his parents, John Burr and Rose Prine; his son Joseph James Prine, Sr.; and his sisters, Dela Mae Sylvester, Lucille Whitsitt and Frances Patterson.
He is survived by: his children, John Prine, Jr. (Kathy), Nancy Wood (Eugene), Patsy Shelton and Betty Lou Mastrapa; and his siblings, Lee Bell White, James Prine and Myrine Nichols. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
