He was predeceased by: his parents, Bill Thompson and Ruth Sheffield Thompson; his granddaughter Heather Nicole Thompson; and his siblings, Gene, Jerry Thompson and Carolyn Walker.

He is survived by: his wife Laverne Thompson; his children, Tim Thompson (Tonya) of Smithville and Tina Morrow (Jeff) of Smithville; his sister Karen Smith (Robert) of Smithville; his grandson Blake Thompson (Mindy); and his great grandchildren, Nicole Thompson and Peyton Thompson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
