He was predeceased by: his parents, George Herndon and Cleo Womble Jones Herndon; and his siblings, Robert Herndon, Doyle Herndon, Harold Herndon and Doris Forsythe.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Green Herndon of Amory; his sons, Bill Herndon (Alisa) of Murphreesboro, TN and Phil Herndon (Roberta) of Amory; his sister Joyce Ann Peavey (George) of Georgia; his grandchildren, Ashley Gray (Chris), Zac Herndon, Kyle Herndon, Cody Herndon (Chelsea) and Peyton Herndon; and his great grandchildren, Addie Kate Herndon, Ryleigh Beth Herndon, Carter Herndon and Savannah Herndon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
