She was loved and cherished by many people including: her siblings, Everett "Chick" Smith and Rachel Marie Smith (Hampton); her grandmother Summit; her husband Herman Jr. Balke; her parents, Chick and Rachel; her sisters, Sybil Hopper and Darlene Dickerson; her son-in-law Darcy Odom; her children, Herman Balke (Bud), Donna of Lebanon, Ted Eugene Balke (Brenda) of Sedalia and Tina Marie Odom of Odessa; her sisters, Leta Ann Rogers of Lincoln and Bonnie Rachel Henderson of Wheatland; her niece Anita Marie Orme (Hopper); her sister-in-law Betty Kirby of Warsaw; and her friend Christian. She was also cherished by ten grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
