She was predeceased by: her parents, Leonard Singleton and Lura Elizabeth Norris (Cooper); and her daughter Elizabeth Blackwell. She is survived by: her husband Willard David Payton, Jr.; her nephew Doug Ransdell; her daughter Charlotte Payton-Newell; her grandchildren, David Blackwell, Aaron Blackwell, Micah Newell, Monica Newell and Matthew Newell; and her sister Zanna Awdey. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
