Melissa Reed Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Melissa Reed who was born in Jacksonville, Illinois. Melissa passed away on September 27, 2023, at the age of 43, Missy is survived by her children, Maddison Adams and Bryson Reed. As well as 2 "future ex step daughters" Kennedy and Kacey Sollars who claimed Melissa as their Step-Mother. Melissa held a special place in her heart for Maddison's sister Destiny Adams who she loved as her own for many years. Her loving mother, Patricia Hunt. Her boyfriend Michael Sollars who was her best friend as well. She is also survived by her stepmother, Patrica Reed and grandmother Shirley Coy. Missy's sister, Krista Reed (William Combs), and her stepsiblings, April Winters, Mayme (Larry) Miller, Michelle (Ray) Himmelberg, Pete (Tiffany) Diaz, Michelle (Casey) Powell, Alison Diaz-Burford, Tara (John) Davis, Mandy Wilcox, Courtney Wilcox, Nikki Wilcox, Steve (Sam) Clark, Scott (Lynsie) Hunt, Troy (Kelly) Hunt, and Othie (April) Hunt, mourn her loss deeply.
Missy (Aunt Mimi) was a loving Aunt to Kilianna, Isaako Jr., and Charli and many other step nieces and nephews. Missy was also cherished by several loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Missy’s father, Charles Reed, stepfather Larry Hunt, grandfather Kenneth Coy, grandmother Donna Cosentino and grandparents John and Martha Reed preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her stepbrother Bryan Hunt, nephews Kamiko Mamaeula and Steven Clark, uncles Ralph and Ronnie Reed, aunt Penny Coy, and cousins Rodney Corley, Lisa Becker-Krakofsky, and Amy Krakofsky.
Missy received her education from Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, Illinois, and Odessa High School in Odessa, Missouri. She then pursued further education at Heritage College, where she earned her Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Degree.
Missy’s favorite job was as a Medical Assistant at Pediatric Professionals in Lee's Summit, Missouri. She held this position for several years and greatly admired her co-workers. Melissa was truly beautiful inside and out. She was forgiving and helped out anyone she could. Even if they didnt deserve it Melissa's heart was too big. She could light up any room she entered without trying. Melissa was an angel on earth. She was an amazing artist and could turn anything into an art piece. Her favorite craft partner was her mother. Together they've created such creative and beautiful pieces. She loved spending her freetime gardening or hanging with her family. She was an amazing mother who adored her children more than anything on earth. Always wanting to be with them or ready to show you their newest picture! Her children, biological, non-biological or even her "adopted children" will carry her in their hearts forever. Never to be replaced.
To celebrate Melissa's beautiful life, her family invites friends and loved ones to join them at the First Baptist Church located at 306 N 9th St, Elwood, KS 66024, on Friday, October 13th, from 6 PM to 8 PM. This will be an opportunity for everyone to come together and honor the memory of Missy.
Missy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends and especially her children.
