He was predeceased by: his former wife Margaret; his sister-in-law Left; his wife Isabel; his children, David Schmidt, Dianna Schmidt, El Campo, Greta Unruh and Rodney Unruh of Peoria, Arizona; and his sisters, Evelyn (Gerald Dirks), Violet Wedel of Tampa, Kansas and Mary Lou (Leland Dirks Butler).

He is survived by: his children, Allen and Margaret.
