He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Esser (Fairchild); his parents, Bernard Esser and Lillian Newlin Esser; and his siblings, William Esser, Frank Esser, Lucille Johnson and Maryann Tieszen.

He is survived by: his children, William "Will" Esser (Nancy) of Venice, FL, Brian Esser (Becky) of Jessup, MD and Cheryl Nanney (Terry); and his grandchildren, Brittany Nanney (Jeff Horn) and Kyle Nanney.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
