He was predeceased by: his parents, Willis Jack and Irva Tucker McKinney; and his wife Georgia Mae Duff McKinney. He is survived by: his son Verlin "Zip"; his daughter-in-law Sandy McKinney of New Madrid; his grandchildren, Misty Wright, Holly McKinney and Justin McKinney; and his great grandchildren, McKenzie King, Chandler King, Molly King and Anabel Wright.
