He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Doyle Cox and Geneva Cox (Abernathy); his wife Doris Cox of Moscow Mills; his children, Dana Buchanan (Bill) of St. Peters, Michael Cox (Christina) of Longmeadow and Donna Gawedzinski (Michael) of O'Fallon, MO; his sister Jan Long of Warrenton; and his grandchildren, Melanie Buchanan (Chris), Ashley Cox (Corey), Christopher Cox (Miranda), Robert Cox, Samantha Cox, Rick Gawedzinski, Ryan Gawedzinski and Melyssa Gawedzinski (Evan). He was also cherished by other relatives and friends.
