He was predeceased by: his parents, George Wilmes and Gertrude Wilmes (Hiatt); his former wife Odelia Wilmes (Moffat); his siblings, Bernard Wilmes, Rita Stamps, Joe Wilmes, Helen Joyce and Delores Spire; and his parents-in-law, Peggy Wilmes, Fran Wilmes, Dean Stamps, Tom O'Connell, BJ Bjournsrud and Penny Wilmes.
He is survived by: his children, Jared (Rebecca Wilmes), Julie (Sim White), Jennifer (Chad Williamson) and Jill (Alan Lager); his grandchildren, Garrett, Elyse Wilmes, Samantha, Tucker, Carson White, Paisley, Caden Williamson, Mackenzie, Peyton and Lily Lager; his siblings, Geri (Jack Ulmer), Alfred Wilmes, Richard (Darlene Wilmes), Raymond (Bert Wilmes), Louise O'Connell, Charlie (Louise Wilmes), Pauline Bjournsrud, Phil (Karen Wilmes), Tom (Sharon Wilmes) and Ken (Marilyn Wilmes); and his parents-in-law, Cecelia Wilmes, Connie Wilmes, Donna Wilmes, John Joyce, Paul Spire, Dale, Shelia Schwebach, Fred, Nancy Holtman, Ronnie and Betty Ginther.
