He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry W. Hathaway and Mary Ellen Kindle Hathaway; his brother Laverne Hathaway; and his sisters-in-law, Lois Hathaway and Mary Hathaway.
He is survived by: his wife Bertha Maxine Niffen; his daughters, Angela Ardeneaux (Willie) of Louisiana, MO, Christine Prior (Duncan) of Syracuse, Colleena Buchanan (Scott) of Pleasant Hill, IL and Kimberly Pinter (Thomas) of Louisiana, MO; and his brothers, Charles Hathaway of Peoria, IL and Carl Hathaway (Sherri) of New Canton, IL. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren.
