He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Serfass and Mildred Serfass; and his brothers, Sonny and Vern. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Janet Oertwig; his daughters, Jeanette (Larry) and Jennifer (Stephen); his grandsons, Christopher, Jeffrey, Aaron (Marissa), Jacob (Kristen) and Adam; and his great grandchildren, Bentley and Lydia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, KC Hospice and Palliative Care, or the American Heart Association.
