He was predeceased by: his parents, John Butler and Sylvia Krouse Butler. He is survived by: his siblings, Ron Butler of Montrose, IA and Sheila Jenkins (Stanley) of Luray, MO; and his aunt Jeannette Butler of Keokuk, IA. He is also survived by seven nieces and one nephew.
