He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Vetter and Anna Vetter (Schrimpf); his wife Naomi Vetter; his son Vincent Vetter; his daughter-in-law Mary Beth Vetter; and his brother Ronald Vetter.

He is survived by: his children, Tracy Vetter (Curtis Allen), Tiffany Vetter (Chris Petro) of Overland Park, Gregory Vetter (Irene Kosturakis) of Houston, Philip Vetter of Jefferson City, Derrick Vetter (Barbara Gaines) of Lohman and Darren Vetter of Las Vegas; his grandchildren, Kaymen, Dalton, Prescott Vetter, Quintin and Karina Allen; and his sisters, Carolyn Bruemmer (Tony), Joann Penfold (Jim) and Cathy Vetter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or to the Louis H. Vetter Scholarship at Helias Catholic High School.
