He was predeceased by: his mother Violet McNulty (Ferguson); his sisters, Elsie Birge and Connie Welpman; and his stepsiblings, Jim McNulty and Debbie McNulty.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy "Dottie" Birge; and his daughters, Kelley Kallmeyer (Jeremy) and Gwendolyn Birge.

In Lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to the charity of donor's choice.
