She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Rena Taylor and McFadden; her children, Rena O. Davis (Wilbert) of Jefferson City and Richard S. Chandler (Denise) of Arlington, Texas; her husband Fred M. Chandler; and her sons, Fred L. and Ronald A. Chandler. She was also cherished by three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the First AME Church of Gary, Indiana, the American Diabetes Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
