He was predeceased by: his father Russell Murphy; his son Dwayne; and his siblings-in-law, Rosie Snyder (Clint) and Donald Wesselschmidt. He is survived by: his wife Lauretta Wesselschmidt; his daughter-in-law Patricia Murphy; his grandchildren, Jessica Kems (Daniel) and Lucas Murphy (Katie); his great grandchildren, Amelia Murphy and Brock Murphy of Milton, Wisconsin; and his siblings-in-law, Vera Julius (Russ), Anna Mae Wesselschmidt and Dennis Wesselschmidt (Jeanie).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
