It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Vonda Sam Dempsey of Independence, Missouri, who passed away on September 4, 2022, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Flora Julia Blackburn and Sam Emmett Dempsey; his son David; his brothers, Cecil, Emmett, Devon, Wilburn and Wallace; and his siblings-in-law, Polly, Jack Hillis and Bill Estes.
He is survived by: his wife Hazel Copeland; his children, Vonda Geary (Mark), Julia Daily (Tom) and Michael Dempsey; his grandchildren, Mindy Horton (Mike), David Dempsey II, Nichole Cangelosi, Travis Geary (Cherie), Krista Sullivan (Brent), Leah Almatar (Danyal), Claire Raulston and Dustin Dempsey; his great grandchildren, Alexandria, Joseph, Ethan, Alexis, Dominic, Giuliana, Wisam, Isaiah, Calliope, Elodie, Lilia and Elias; his great great grandchild Hazel Jean Marie; and his siblings, Curtis, Doyle, Helen Estes, Barbara Brice (Jim) and Brenda Hillis. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
