He was predeceased by: his parents, Omalee Cummins and Bill Cummins. He is survived by: his grandchildren, Macenna, Lillian, Tyler, Colton and Bennett; his wife Mary; his children, Cory Cummins (Rick), Michael Cummins (Elizabeth) and Amanda Zern (Jason); his siblings, Michelle Wilson (Jerry), Mike, Steve and Mitch Cummins; and his pet Jo Jo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.

In 2020, Matt earned the President's Choice Award for excellence in action during the pandemic.
