He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Kempfe and Esther Kempfe (Schmohe); and his sister Marilyn Ohrenberg. He is survived by: his wife Lora Mae Schnakenberg; his children, Lynette Gates (Michael) of Falls Church, VA and David Kempfe (Amy) of Kansas City, MO; and his grandsons, Warner and Landon Gates. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Independence or Saint Paul Lutheran High School in Concordia in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home.
