He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford and Martha; his son Clifford Christopher "Chris" Carpenter; and his siblings, Candace "Candy" Vaupel, Don Carpenter and Thomas "Tony" Carpenter.
He is survived by: his wife Sally LaPoint; his daughters, Cindy McClain (Ken) and Cathy Carpenter; and his sister Judy Haney (Jim). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Instead of flowers family suggest contributions be made to the American Lung Association or American Heart Association.
