He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Early Gillespie, Sr. and Mildred Lorene Gillespie (O'Dell). He is survived by: his brother Kenneth W. Gillespie; his nieces, Kathy Niemeyer of Austin, TX and Brigette Gillespie of Atlanta, GA; his nephew Kenneth S. Gillespie of Los Angeles, CA; and his pets, Romeo and Juliet.
