He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph McAtee and Mae Belle McAtee. He is survived by: his daughters, Colleen Freeman and Christine McAtee; his grandchildren, Travis Freeman (Marina), Justin Freeman (Amy), Timothy Vaughn, Jayson Vaughn (Erin) and Joshua Vaughn (Katie); and his close friend Viola McAtee. He is also survived by his eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions in Joseph's name may be made to the Missouri Council for the Blind .
