He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Thurston and Mary Thurston (Hancock); and his siblings, Waldo, Denver, Frank, Lindell Thurston, Iva Montgomery, Opal Moyers and Nadine Bratcher.
He is survived by: his children, Bonnie Hovis (Paul) of Hiram, Lonnie Thurston (Joan) of Greenville, Connie Dildine (Andy) of Hiram, Vonnie Baker (Richard) of Marble Hill, Vonita Pinson (Tim) of Belleview, MO and Ronnie Thurston (Angela) of Wappapello. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
