He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Evans and Edna Mae Backer; and his sisters, Susan and Peggy. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jean Evans; his siblings, Gary Evans (Linda), Nancy Donovan Crawley (Bill) and Georgia Ann Backer Treiber; his siblings-in-law, Bill Buchholz (Joanne) and Pamela Stover (Robert); and his daughters, Amber (Frank) and Alexis (Scott).
In response to his daughter's shocked young face as he once dropped what little change he had into the donation bin, "Because there are some people who don't have anything.".
