He was predeceased by: his parents, Denis Herbst and Irene Herbst (Wichman); his siblings, Doris Eaves Sloan and Eugene Herbst (Jean); his brothers-in-law, Ed Eaves and Frank Helberg; and his nephew Johnny Eaves.
He is survived by: his children, Carmen Moore (Larry) of Farmington, Cynthia Harlen (Holt) of Houston, TX, Richard Herbst II (Stacy Williams) of Farmington and Matt Herbst (Shannon) of Farmington; his grandchildren, Hunter, Hayden, Austin, Emily and Olivia; his sister Jacklyn Helberg of St. Louis, MO; and his brother-in-law Chester Sloan.
