He was predeceased by: his parents, August Tappmeyer and Alma Tappmeyer (Zinn); his wife Patricia Tappmeyer; his son Jonathan Tappmeyer; and his sister Lorene Tappmeyer.

He is survived by: his daughter Jana Tappmeyer of Kirkwood; and his brother Roger Tappmeyer of Owensville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to Gasconade County Historical Society.
